Upcoming cars, SUVs, motorcycles and scooters in India in November 2017

We’ve already seen several important cars being launched so far – from Tata Nexon to Skoda Kodiaq and Maruti Suzuki S-Cross. However, even as 2017 is nearing its end, car makers still have a lot to offer, some of which are highly anticipated. Renault, Mahindra, Ford and Maruti Suzuki are poised to launch new cars in India. Speaking of new car launches, the two-wheeler industry also has a couple of things in store for this year. We saw several premium motorcycles being launched this year, such as the Triumph Street Scrambler and Ducati SuperSport S. And then there were the more affordable ones, such as the Yamaha Fazer 25. Now though, there a 150cc cruiser in the pipeline and will launch in November. Coming to scooters, Honda has quite been a winner with its Activa models and now there is a brand new scooter due for launch next month.

Ford EcoSport

First unveiled at the 2017 LA Motor Show, the Ford Ecosport facelift is all set to make its India debut next month and if reports are to be believed then the Ford India will launch its popular SUV on 9th November 2017. Ford Ecosport facelift will be manufactured at the company’s plant in Chennai and the new 1.5L 3-cylinder petrol engine that will debut in India in the new Ecosport will be manufactured at Ford’s factory in Sanand.

The 1.0L Ecoboost petrol engine will also be on sale with the same existing 1.5L diesel engine. We expect Ford India to price its new Ecosport aggressively between Rs 6-10 lakh (ex-showroom).

Mahindra Scorpio facelift

The facelift version of the Mahindra Scorpio has been spied testing in the country several times now and it is expected Mahindra & Mahindra will launch it in November this year. The new Scorpio will come with a host of cosmetic changes, including a redesigned grille with chrome inserts, restyled head and tail lamps, and new bumpers.

Expect the 2018 Mahindra Scorpio to get the same 2.2-litre mHawk engine but with more power. The mHawk diesel unit is expected to produce 140 hp of power and 280 Nm of peak torque and will be paired to a five-speed transmission. In addition, it will also be offered with a new six-speed Aisin-sourced torque converter automatic unit. The Scorpio facelift will also be sold with a 2.5-litre, m2DICR, turbocharged unit that makes 75 hp of power and 200 Nm of torque. The power will be sent to the two- or four-wheel drive system, depending on the variant. Expect the new Scorpio to be priced at a premium. The current model is priced at Rs 9.7 to 15.5 lakh.

Maruti Suzuki Celerio X

Maruti Suzuki Celerio, marketed as India’s first AMT, is set to get an upgrade which will include a sportier appeal along with a higher ground clearance. The Celerio X will come with redesigned bumpers and the front grille will come with honeycomb mesh.

Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 and GLA 45

Mercedes-Benz CLA 45 and GLA 45, a performance-oriented coupe and an SUV respectively, have been scheduled to launch on 7th November. The two will be available in a new black finish and will also sport some other cosmetic changes including decals on the doors and a sporty yellow strip running on the front and rear bumpers, the sides, on the outside rearview mirrors and the blacked-out alloy wheels.

The CLA 45 and GLA 45 share the 1,991cc, four-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine that produces 381 hp and 475 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that sends power to all four wheels via the 4Matic system. Expect the new models to be priced at a premium.

Suzuki Intruder 150

Already on sale in Asian markets, such as Indonesia, China and Vietnam, Suzuki Intruder 150 is expected to be launched in India on 7th November. We expect the cruiser to be powered by a 150cc engine that would produce 15.4 hp and 11.2 Nm of torque and will likely be mated to a five-speed gearbox.

Since the Intruder 150 is slated to take on Bajaj’s Avenger series we expect that it will be placed slightly cheaper than the Gixxer and the SF, and will likely be priced at between Rs 75,000 and 80,000. The 137 kg kerb weight makes it lighter than the avenger, and the 150 will have a fuel tank capacity of 11.5 litres.
