Ahead of its public debut at the upcoming Los Angeles motor show in November, Porsche has unveiled the more powerful versions of the Cayman and the Boxster, namely the 718 Cayman and the Boxster GTS. Both the models now get cosmetic enhancements, increase in torque as well as power as compared to the S versions. The new Porsche 718 Cayman coupe and Boxster GTS convertible are powered by a mid-mounted 2.5 litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine that now generates 365 hp of maximum power and 430 Nm of torque between 1,900 and 5,000 rpm. The power is sent to rear wheels via either a six-speed manual gearbox or optional seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
The 718 Cayman and Boxster GTS takes 3.9 seconds to reach 100 kmph and has a top speed of 290 kmph. The company has also equipped the models with the Sport Chrono package with Porsche Track Precision App helps the driver to record lap times and videos directly from their smartphone. The sportscar maker has also equipped the Porsche 718 and GTS with torque vectoring, a mechanical rear limited slip differential and the Porsche Active Suspension Management system that helps in reducing the ride height on the GTS by 10 mm.
In terms of cosmetic updates, the Porsche 718 Cayman and the Boxster GTS now gets slightly revised front and rear bumpers with the sport pack, satin finished 20-inch alloy wheels and centrally-mounted black exhaust pipes. The GTS gets tinted black headlamps and tail lamps as well as GTS badging on the doors. The interior of the GTS, on the other hand, features changes in the form of Alcantara inserts on the sporty seats, steering wheel, centre console and armrests.
Porsche India has not yet confirmed as to when these model will be available in the country. However, the car manufacturer already sells the standard 718 Cayman and Boxster with a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 300hp of power. The Porsche 718 Cayman has priced at Rs 81.63 lakh and the Boxster carries a price tag of Rs 85.53 lakh, ex-showroom.
