The 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show was the setting this past week for the North American launch of the 2019 Kia Sorento,  which benefits from a number of interior and exterior revisions touching on its design and functionalities.

The front end of the new Sorento has been subtly updated, with the tweaked grille, bumper and headlights proffering on it a cleaner and more chic appearance. These changes have been complemented by slight improvements to the wheel design and LED rear lights.

The cabin of the 2019 Kia Sorento has also been given some minor revisions, notably as regards the driver’s seat, the steering wheel and passenger-side lumbar support. Nor have the dashboard and console been neglected, as they now feature Kia’s new telematics (Intelligence UVO) system and wireless smartphone recharging. Other technologies such as high beam assist, lane keep assist and front parking sensors have also been added to the suite of included systems.

Lastly, the powertrain of the revised Sorento integrates a smoother-shifting new 8-speed automatic transmission that contributes to improved fuel economy (official figures are still to come). A new diesel engine is in the pipeline for the model, and Canadian consumers can expect to see that offered down the road.

"The refined Kia Sorento will give Canadians a fun-to-drive, AWD 7-passenger vehicle with enhanced styling, more technology and a more sophisticated interior – all backed by the brand that has ranked number one in quality two years in a row."

- Ted Lancaster, VP & COO, Kia Canada Inc.
