Volunteer program returns to Lloydminster Hospital

The Palliative Care Volunteer program is returning to the Lloydminster Hospital, the Jubilee Care Home, and will be approved at the Pine Island Lodge in Maidstone.

The SHA program allows volunteers to stay with the palliative patient to give the family members or caregiver a break. The volunteer will work with the nursing staff and accept direction and feedback from the staff liaison and volunteer services coordinator.

Training will include wheelchair and Broda chair orientation.

Volunteers must complete online or in-person Canadian Hospice Palliative Care Volunteer Training Modules 1-9 and other training that cover understanding the dying process and cultural and spiritual considerations.
