The nonprofit is planning to renovate a former industrial space on the East Side into a campus devoted to fresh food and urban agriculture.

Nonprofit organization Buffalo Go Green Inc. is planning to renovate a former industrial space on the East Side into a campus devoted to fresh food and urban agriculture.

Buffalo Go Green purchased 243-261 Manhattan Ave. for $725,000 in April 2023.

The organization will appear before the Buffalo Zoning Board of Appeals on Wednesday, seeking permission to build a patio on the front of a former vehicle repair facility at 261 Manhattan Ave.

Buffalo Go Green's website details plans for a Holistic Wellness and Agricultural Education Campus that would occupy all three buildings on the two-acre site.

Plans include a market that would sell produce grown by Buffalo Go Green, a test kitchen for cooking classes, a juice bar, event space and a studio for yoga and other activities.

The Buffalo Bills Foundation, the charitable arm of the NFL team, is helping to fund the project, according to the website.

Allison DeHonney, executive director of Buffalo Go Green, said she could not comment on plans for the campus beyond what has been publicly announced but that more information will be coming soon.

Buffalo Go Green runs numerous programs to help get people in underserved populations into agriculture and provide fresh food in food deserts. It recently opened a hydroponic produce growing facility at its urban farm on Zenner Street.
